Four sisters fight to escape the rural Appalachian cult they were born and raised in while struggling to maintain their relationships with one another.

Beyond the Fence is an unapologetically feminist coming-of-age tragedy depicting the gruesome reality of gender-based violence to raise awareness and demand change. It’s a subtle, slow-burning response to recent cultural conversations on the female experience. The script embraces realism, in all its grit, grime, and gore. We follow four girls, at various stages of adolescence, living in a male-led, high-control environment. The characters are thrust into situations of domestic abuse, sexual violence, coercion, confrontation, and armed conflict.

Beyond the Fence is a story about sisterhood, family, loss, survival, death, and sacrifice.

A note from the writer

"I began working on Beyond the Fence when I was 16. At first, I related wholly to Jenny, the fiery 17-year-old catalyst for the sisters’ escape. Now, nearly a decade later and after many revisions, I've been able to also see the world from Mary's point of view, allowing me to adapt her character into someone more relatable than she was originally.

I want Beyond the Fence to resonate with audiences. I want moviegoers to feel my passion for the story through the screen, and for them to walk away having experienced something that is entertaining, emotional, and thought-provoking without being exploitative. I am backed by a team of extremely passionate and talented individuals and I want them all to have a positive experience working on the film and to feel proud of their involvement.

Beyond the Fence is a story about sisterhood, family, loss, survival, death, and sacrifice. I aim to tell the stories of women from all minds, all walks of life, highlighting our strength and resilience."
